This system removes potentially dangerous proteins and metabolic waste produced by the brain's energy-demanding neural activities and carries non-waste products like glucose, lipids, amino acids, and certain neurotransmitters.
The researchers also advise anyone wanting to keep their brains free of dementia risks to improve their sleep habits. They believe this is crucial for a properly functioning lymphatic system. The takeaway: Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends, avoiding screens in the bedroom before sleep, and having a calming pre-bed routine (such as reading, taking a warm bath or shower, or meditating) will help eliminate toxins from your headspace.
